Last week I travelled to Southern Oregon and went wine tasting in the Applegate Valley with three of my girlfriends. It was amazing because Southern Oregon has SO MANY different local wineries! The Applegate Valley is just about 45 minutes off of I-5, so if you’re travelling through, it very easy to plan a visit! Here’s a list of the wineries we went to and some info about each one!

Fiasco Tasting Room
We started our wine tour at the Fiasco Tasting Room. I really liked this winery because it was very cozy inside the tasting room; we sat at the bar and had a great view of the back of the property. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and he taught us a lot about the Italian meaning for “fiasco” (which I actually have tattooed on me LOL). I would definitely recommend this tasting room (check them out in the summer when you can watch the paragliders!).
Red Lily Vineyards
Next we went to Red Lily Vineyards. I’ve been to this winery before and it is one of my all time favorites in the Applegate Valley. They have a great outdoor area next to a stream where you can drink your wine and have lunch. They also sell these fantastic salts that are just amazing (I bought the Sri Lanka Curry salt this time and it’s so good!!). Overall this is just a really nice place, great atmosphere, and great wine 🙂
The Academy Winery
The Academy Winery was our third stop and my least favorite. They don’t have much of a website and it was a bit hard to find their location. There also wasn’t much of an atmosphere going on. When we got there we were taken to the building where they store the wine and we just kind of stood in there while we did our tasting. The wine was good, but it was kind of awkward just standing there and tasting.
Plaisance Ranch
Our last stop was at the Plaisance Ranch. I am so glad we went here, it was a great end to our day! The wine was excellent, and the owner’s pours? Well, lets just say they were healthy 😉 We also got to take a tour of some of the property and pet the goats! I absolutely want to go back, especially in the summer because they have live bands!

Have you ever visited Southern Oregon? If you have, let me know in the comments your favorite thing you did while you were there 🙂 And if you’re interested in more things to do in Southern Oregon, check out this post!

Going wine tasting is amazing. I love in So Cal so I go to wineries from time to time here. I especially love it when they let you walk around the property. Sounds like you had fun!
Me too, a nice outdoor area of lounging with friends is great!
I love Oregon wine, and I would be all over this! What a great time!
Wonderful! I haven’t been back down to that part of Oregon for wine tasting in a very long time and can’t wait to try some of the newer wineries out there. Thanks for the tips!
