Is Custom Made Clothing Worth It? (Ellie Kai Review!)

As a tall and slim woman, I have the hardest time finding clothes that fit me just right. That’s why I was SO excited when I was sent a dress from Ellie Kai a few months ago. This was my first ever piece of clothing that would have custom dimensions! There were so many positives about this dress that I wanted to share them with you, and also share my thoughts on custom made clothing…is it worth it?

Custom Made Clothing: Pros vs. Cons
Ok, we all know there are pros and cons to pretty much everything in life, so I’m not gonna sit here and pretend every little thing about custom made clothing is positive. I just want to give you a truly honest review, and let you know if I’d order again 🙂
The Pros:Custom dimensions – I loved being able to choose the length of my dress. I’m tall and I really don’t like short or mini dresses at all, so this was most exciting for me!Extended sizing options – Ellie Kai sizes range from an XXS to an XL, which made finding my perfect size wayyyy easier.Ability to work with a stylist – if you had any questions about your perfect fit, there was an option to consult with a stylist.Unique – you’re not as likely to walk into a party or event and see someone wearing the same dress as you, since most custom made clothing is purchased online.
The Cons:Must purchase online – for those who haven’t jumped on the online shopping bandwagon, this could be a deal breaker.Pricey – I won’t lie, this dress is pricey. I definitely would not have ordered it blindly, without knowing if I liked the brand and the fit of their clothes.Shipping takes longer – since they don’t mass produce their clothes all at once, you typically won’t see your items ship for about 3 weeks after you place your order (so I wouldn’t recommend it as a last minute purchase).
With those pros and cons in mind, I’d say I’m about 50/50 on whether I’d order custom made clothing again. I think it is TOTALLY worth it if you have a specific event to go to and you want the perfect fitting dress. Especially since for a statement piece that’s good quality and not on sale, you’re looking at at least $100. Then you may still need to have it altered. I did find another online custom made clothing brand called eShakti that I’ve never personally tried, but they have a ton of items and the prices are a bit more affordable than Ellie Kai. Like I said above though, I’m more likely to order from a brand that I already trust, especially when it comes to custom items.
