Ok babes, it’s time for some real talk. “That time of the month” has always been a struggle for me; I’ll be the first to admit I have serious PMS. Like, 7 months pregnant bloating, crying for no reason and eating ALL the chips type of PMS. I think it’s important to share this personal post about myself though. As women, we’re constantly made to feel like we’re being overly sensitive, moody, or even downright crazy during our monthly cycles, when really it’s just our bodies doing their natural thing! So in this post I’m going to give you my 5 tips on how I survive PMS and keep my uterus and my vajay happy!
How I Survive PMS
I want to share some self-care tips that I currently use every month to help soothe my PMS and keep my vagina happy. We all know how important it is to use quality products and show ourselves a little extra love during that time of the month!
#1 Quality feminine care products
Seventh Generation™!
I have always used three different products during my cycle: tampons, pantiliners, and pads. The three specific products I buy at Target are:
- Seventh Generation Comfort Applicator Tampons (18 count)
- Free & Clear fragrance-free Ultra-Thin Pads with Wings (18 count)
- Free & Clear Pantiliners (50 count)
Seventh Generation are a new product, and ladies, they’re a game changer! No one wants to stick dry cardboard in their vagina #AmIRight? So I’m LOVING the new style! It’s also really important to me that my fem care products come free of any perfumes. The free and clear products are also fragrance-free and free of chlorine processing. Anytime they do use fragrance in their products, it’s always derived from natural essential oils! How awesome is that?!
#2 Soothe the bloating with peppermint and yoga!
I mentioned above that I suffer from extreme bloating during my period. Let me tell you girl, it’s no joke. I actually have been asked on multiple occasions if I was pregnant #UmmmNO! To help with the bloating, I love drinking hot peppermint tea and doing some gut-healthy yoga poses!
#3 Heating pads are your friend
When my uterus is angry, nothing is better than a nice hot heating pad. It helps with the cramping immensely and just feels so soothing! It is definitely a lifesaver when it comes to helping me survive PMS!
#4 Take time for yourself
Who needs more of an excuse for chocolate and gossip magazines than that time of the month? If you’re feeling crampy and moody, take some time to listen to your body and just REST. Do things you love, whether that’s staying in on a Friday night to watch all the old reruns of Law & Order: SVU (guilty!), or sleeping in till noon, your vajay is trying to tell you something, so listen to it!
#5 Don’t let the haters get you down
I’d be surprised if there’s a woman out there who’s never been put down for acting “crazy” during her period. The fact of the matter is, people are going to say what they want, but don’t let it get to you. If you need a good cry session, then girl, cry it out! There’s nothing wrong with taking care of yourself, especially during your cycle!
I hope these tips are helpful for you ladies when it comes time for you to survive PMS. That time of the month can be stressful, but by listening to your body and taking care of yourself, you can get through it! Our bodies go through a natural, healthy, and pretty darn amazing process of cleaning house to keep us healthy. To me, that’s a beautiful thing. So carry your plant-based Seventh Generation tampons proudly, and help keep your vajay-jay happy! #HappyVaginaHappyLife 😛

Urghhh, PMS is evil. I never used to get it that badly but lately I just find myself so irritable that I annoy myself and my poor other half gets the brunt of it.
I find a nice long soak, a good book, hot chocolate and me time are what help me get through my rough days.
