Guessss what??? I leave for NYFW in less than a week! Ahhhh I can’t wait 😊 I’ve been picking out some fun pieces to wear and I’ve been very cogniscant of the fact that I typically under pack when I travel. I can’t tell you the number of time I’ve gone somewhere, only to realize I didn’t pack enough shirts, or didn’t bring a bikini top (I know, who just brings the bottoms? Me. I do.). But I’ve figured out a way to fix this problem through the next five packing tips, and if you read to the bottom you’ll even find a giveaway that could help with your next trip!

Under-Packer Packing Tips
- Always bring a couple more pieces than you think you’ll need for things like underwear and shirts. They typically don’t take up much space, and it’s better to have extra than not enough!
- If you’re traveling somewhere and think you might be going out at night but aren’t sure, pack something for it just in case! I’ve definitely been that person who doesn’t pack an outfit for a night out and has to go shopping to find something. Such a pain cause in Oregon we don’t have a sales tax but that’s not the case most other places, and I hate having to pay sales tax LOL.
- Make a list. This is probably the most basic of packing tips but the most essential as well! I find if I don’t write down everything I need or want to bring, I tend to forget a lot of stuff.
- If you’re worried about wanting to save space or you don’t want to check a bag, get some vacuum sealable bags. These are amazing for saving space! I recently discovered this trick and I was hesitant to try it because I could suck all the air out with my vacuum at home, but what would I do on my way back? Well, if you are staying in a hotel you can ask the maid service to borrow their vacuum. If that won’t work though usually you can roll the bags and squish a lot of the air out manually.
- Don’t wait till the last minute to start packing. I’m not just an under-packer, I’m a last minute packer. And when I pack last minute, I tend just say “f*ck it” and throw things together and I never pack enough clothes. I’ve found that the best way to combat this is to slowly pack over the course of a week. The best time to start is after you do the laundry, that way you can just set aside the pieces you want to be sure to bring as soon as they are clean!

I’m a pretty good packer but the rest of my family needs some improvement, lol. I think I will pass this along to them maybe even print it and hang it up on our family travel board. We leave on our next vacation in May.

Aww fun! Hope you have a great family vacation!

What, do under-packers exist – I always tend to over-pack! I always overthink what I may need, and could do with less even though I usually use it all. This is a great list, especially the last tip.

I guess I’m a rarity haha! Thanks for reading girl!

I have the exact opposite problem! I definitely overpack, but I feel like I need to have options. I never know what I’m going to want to wear. But even when I do, I always forget something. These are really great tips, especially the not waiting until the last minute. I do that allllll the time.
Brittany Nicole says
I wish I was the opposite, I’d always rather have too much than not enough. Both are bothersome though for sure!

I have a friend who would benefit from this! She hates packing anything but basics!

I feel like that’s all I own sometimes haha

I’m a pretty good packer, but sometimes I wait until the last minute, which means I inevitably forget something.

i make a list as well and have each family member make a list for what they need/want/have in their luggage and each of us packs our luggage. while i am not an under-packer (and not really an over-packer either), i always think there is something i could have left out or added, no matter what..
Brittany Nicole says
Thanks a good idea, and yes I agree, something is always forgotten.
