After a long 10 months of planning our wedding, all Eihab and I wanted to do was RELAX! We had a lot of ideas about where to go for the honeymoon, but we wanted to stay budget friendly. So, if you want to know how we chose our honeymoon location, then keep reading!
Dominican Republic Honeymoon Location
It’s funny how we had this idea of “oh, we’re going to go to Europe and travel and see all the sites,” when what we ended up doing was laying in our hotel room and sleeping, eating, and, you know, consummating the marriage LOL.
Like seriously, that’s all you’re gonna want to do. Even though relaxation was top on our list, it’s not like we didn’t do anything fun on our honeymoon. However, what was really important to us was getting to wind down after the craziness of the wedding, together on a warm beach with a daiquiri in our hands!
Now choosing the exact beach where we would drink said daiquiri was a process. Eihab wanted to go to the Caribbean, and since neither of us had ever been there, I thought it was the perfect place. We must have spent hours searching for the right (and budget friendly) location. Most of the islands in the Caribbean are pretty expensive – Fiji and Antigua were the most expensive. Luckily, the Dominican Republic was super cheap during October, so we decided to go for it!
One thing to note is that the reviews for the beach we stayed on (Playa Bavaro) aren’t so great. A lot of them said the staff at the resorts weren’t very friendly, and the beaches had a lot of seaweed. I didn’t experience unfriendly staff at all, and we were there for 9 days. One part of the beach did have a lot of seaweed, but there was a tropical storm near Puerto Rico during our stay. But the weather was hot, the sun was out, and the water was amazing! I don’t know what more you could ask for on your honeymoon!
Where did you go for your honeymoon, or where would you love to go? Leave me a comment and let me know! And if you’re just starting out planning your wedding, then this post is for you!

What a beautiful honeymoon! We went to Glacier National Park for ours and it was fantastic. I wouldn’t say no to a tropical paradise for a future vacation, though! 🙂 Looks fabulous!

My ideal honeymoon destinations would be; St Lucia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Barbados. I have always wanted to visit these areas and doing it with my soul mate just makes the prospect even better. Now just to wait for the proposal 😛 xx
