Hey guys! I hope everyone is staying warm and dry if you’re in the PNW or in the hurricane affected areas! Weather guy says we should get some sunshine this weekend here in Portland, so I’m hopeful!

Fall flats

I wanted to share with you guys some flats that I’m loving lately and that work really well for the fall season. I don’t know why, but I love flats! I wear them literally year round, doesn’t matter the season. There’s just something comforting about flats…if it’s chilly out and all you want to do is go to work in your pj’s and slippers (but you work in administration so that will NEVER fly), just slip on some leggings, a tunic or long sweater and a pair of comfy flats and you’re good to go!

Fall flats

I’ve been rotating between 3 different pairs of flats this season. The most important thing for me that I’ve discovered over the years, is that they need to be:

  1. Comfy! I don’t want my flats to rub, and if they have a little extra room for me to wear tights, then that’s a bonus.
  2. Weather resistant. Nothing is worse than buying a really cute pair of flats and then ruining them in the rain. Of course, you can always use some kind of protectant, like a water-proof spray, but if they’re a fabric that naturally wears well in all types of weather, then that is even better.
  3. High quality. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love finding amazing shoes for super cheap, but I’ve found that if I want to be able to wear them for more than a year, I need to invest a little bit of extra money into the shoes that I purchase. A little bit higher quality goes a long way!

Fall flats

So, without further ado, here are my 3 favorite pairs of flats that I have been wearing this Fall season!

flat-shoe

Zara flat burgundy slipper-style shoes with hand embroidered beetle detail. I am in love with these flats! What I really like about them is A.) The color! Burgundy is a hot trend for this fall and winter season; B.) The texture – velvet is also a super trend that I am loving because it has a very classy vibe to it; and C.) The details. I don’t know why, but the little beetle is kind of the cutest thing ever, and I’m a sucker for loafers, so that’s a bonus!

franco-sarto

DSW – Franco Sarto Simona Flat. Every woman needs a pair of black flats. There’s just no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. These are great because they’re the “basic bitch” of flats, so you can wear them with anything, but they’re ridiculously comfortable as well! I love the feel of the leather, it’s really soft, and the loafer style is one of those that never goes out of style.

nude-lace-up

Nude lace-up flats. The pair that I have been wearing are from Ether, which is a really small little shoe store in NW Portland. They were originally about $40 but I got them on super sale for $15!! Steal! Nude is tricky to wear in the fall because they will show dirt and grime really easy, so I definitely recommend protecting them and working to keep them clean. The good thing about getting them on sale, is that you can buy 2 pairs to switch out once the first pair gets a little gross lol. However, if you want a pair that will last you a little longer, I would suggest buying a pair that has a little bit of a heal, nothing crazy, just 1/4 – 1/2 an inch, just so they stay off the ground a little more

What are your thoughts about wearing flats in the fall and winter? Any pairs that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments!

xo,

B
