blogger recognition award

Happy happy Monday babes! I just found out I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by Allyson from the blog Too Much Lemonade and I couldn’t be more excited! Blogging is my passion and before I started, I obsessed about starting haha (seriously tho, for like, 4 years). So in this post I want to not only accept the award nomination, but also share some things I’ve learned over the past year and half from blogging 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award

I still can’t believe I was nominated for this award by a fellow blogger! Sharing my life, thoughts, and style with you all has been a dream come true, and it’s something I’m so passionate about. Blogging has helped me to feel inspired, and I love that I can return the favor to those of you who continue to follow along with me 🙂

How this all started…

So I actually started blogging twice lol. The first time was in 2012 with the blog Briole Chic, and I had that blog for about 6 months. It didn’t last long because I felt like I wasn’t being genuine (probably because I thought I had to blog the same way I saw others blogging). It obviously wasn’t meant to be at the time, so I stopped and didn’t pick it back up again until February 2016. When I started back up, I knew I just wanted to create a space for myself to share my thoughts. I was in desperate need of a hobby, and I’d always loved fashion and trying new styles, so it seemed starting a blog was the right thing to do 🙂

Advice for new bloggers

blogger recognition award

My first piece of advice for new bloggers is to not let anyone bring you down. I know, easier said than done, right? Seriously though, people who aren’t in the blogging industry don’t really understand what it’s like, and for some reason they love and feel it’s acceptable to tell you you’re gonna fail. Sometimes the unknown can throw a person off, but just remember to listen to your heart. If you LOVE blogging, then just keep at it, regardless of what others think 🙂

The second piece of advice I have is to stay humble, and be honest. There is nothing more frustrating than bloggers who feel entitled to things, whether it’s collaborations, invitations to events, recognition, whatever, it’s annoying LOL. Personally, I don’t care who you are or how many followers you have, if you throw a fit because you didn’t get offered front row tickets at that fashion event, or someone didn’t know who you were at a party, you’re not the type of blogger, or person, I wanna hang with. I also really can’t stand when you compliment a fellow blogger on her growth and content and she says something like “oh thanks, I have nooooo idea how it’s happening, I just keep growing!!” *insert my RBF here* B!tch, I KNOW you’re out there hustlin’ trying to grow your following, so don’t feed me that sh!t! Lol we’re ALL doing it, so why be shady about it? OK, rant over. Moral of the story: be humble, be honest, and just be you!
