Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope everybody is having a fabulous day, and if you’re in the Pacific NW, then I hope you are staying warm and dry!
Today I want to talk about mixing light and dark colors. This kind of goes back to the post I did last week -> about incorporating color into your Fall wardrobe (if you haven’t read it, click here!). Even though the weather is wet and the skies are grey, I still feel like it’s important to add a touch of color to an outfit (if that’s your thing of course 😉 ). I feel like I wear a lot of black and grey, and I don’t want to start looking to monochrome, so adding a touch of color really helps me to feel alive.
For this look I went with a pair of faux leather metallic leggings from INC (similar here). These things are so comfortable and they are the perfect length! I’m also wearing the same lace-up nude ballet flats from Ether that I wore in my last outfit post, because they are seriously so comfortable! I’m sure Ether is sold out by now, and for those of you who have been looking around for this Fall trend (or who just don’t live in Portland) here is a similar style.
Since the weather has been pretty crappy here in Portland, I decided to wear my black poofy vest from Old Navy. It’s really super warm and comfortable, and I really like that it doesn’t cover up too much of my outfit, so that I can still show off my sweater and necklace!
This sweater is one of my favorites and it’s also from Old Navy. I have this in a brownish taupe color as well. They’re really soft and comfortable and perfect for work or a colder day.
The purse that I have is also from INC (usually sold at Macy’s). I’ve had this thing for years and it’s still in great condition! I love that it has nude and black, so you can pretty much wear it with anything.
For jewelry, I just chose a basic pair of gold studs that you can get seriously anywhere (these, however, are from Charming Charlie). This necklace is also form Charming Charlie, and I love the pinky nude hue of it! I really think that adding a chunky statement necklace can seriously elevate an otherwise pretty basic look (hello! like the one I’m wearing?).
I hope you guys like this light/dark look! I’m a big fan of it because it is SUPER comfortable, but I was totally able to wear it out to drinks with my blogger wifey Rachel from One Pot Slop, and I definitely think it’s because of the jewelry I paired with it! Let me know in the comments how you guys elevate a basic look!
xo,
B
