Happy Monday loves! This weekend just FLEW by and I can’t believe it’s the start of another week. That’s kind of the trend with my life lately though, time is passing way too quick! Ayla is already over 7 months old, can you believe it?! I did an Instagram story a few weeks ago and asked if you guys were interested in more baby/motherhood posts, and it was a resounding “YES!” So I thought I would do a complete guide to all the baby essentials you need for a 6 month old baby. This post has literally everything. All the toys Ayla loves, the gear we use for her daily routine, and even the food she eats! I hope it’s useful, if it is please leave me a comment so I know to do more of these types of posts!

Top 5 Baby Essentials we use Every Day
- Zip-up pajamas – I prefer these to the sleepers with snaps because they’re way easier to put on a squirming baby. Ayla likes to fight diaper changing time and she’s also super impatient, so being able to zip these guys up (especially in the middle of the night) is so so handy!
- The Diaper Genie – you guys, this is the best diaper trash can EVER. It’s got a double closing latch thingy so that you won’t smell even the stinkiest of poopy diapers. This was essential for us as we had our diaper changing station in our bedroom for the first five or so months of Ayla’s life.
- Diaper cream – I swear Ayla gets diaper rash more often than Donald Trump says “huge.”
- Floor seat – now that Ayla eats solids 1-2 times per day, we use a floor seat with a tray all the time. It was also great before she started solids just to be able to put her in something and let her practice sitting.
- Bottle brush – this is so freaking simple but so handy. I literally through a fit at my parent’s house because I had to wash Ayla’s bottles and nipples with a sponge LOL. I also promptly went out and bought them this exact brush (which I also have at home). Necessary.

Now that’s I’ve listed the top five items we use every day with Ayla, I wanted to share some additional baby essentials that we may not use every day (though some of these we do!) but that are still important enough to have on hand.

Is a roundup post of these baby essentials helpful for you guys? I’d love your feedback below in the comments, it will help me to know if I should continue doing these roundups as Ayla gets older!
These baby essentials are so handy! Great roundup of products that parents can use on a regular basis.
Thanks Leanne!!
That floor seat was essential for my little one when he was that age. He sat in it all the time. Great list of products for new moms!
It’s great for feeding and for teaching them how to sit on their own, I love it!
Baby! Never knew a diaper cream existed. Wow
Yep, it’s a life saver!
So beautiful and these are great essentials, my boy is turning one this week so I can still remember how he was at 6 months. Time really does fly.
It totally does. Happy birthday to your little man!
This could really help out a lot of parents with kids!
Thanks Rosy, that’s the goal!
Great list, and super cute baby! I would definitely add a carrier of some sort, babywearing was huge for us at six months.
Yes we love our carrier! I don’t do much baby wearing, but sometimes we will go on walks and use that instead of the stroller!
Fab post! My little one is just coming up to 6 months now so this was a great read.

Thanks Danie! Xo
I love this! I have a 17 month old and I have been working on a post very similar to this. Tons of my friends and family members are all having kids and I LOVE to help people with their registry lists. It’s so overwhelming at each stage because you literally have no idea what to buy when it’s your first child. We have used most of the products you mentioned. Love it!
It can be so hard! I need to do a post of things we bought that we NEVER used, cause there are quite a few!
Thank you for all these suggestions I have a few baby showers to go to. I will be saving this guide
Thanks for reading Candace, I hope it was helpful!
