In general, it’s best to wear solid colors to your engagement photoshoot, especially if you’re taking somewhere that already has a lot of details. Outdoor locations are already busy and you don’t want to clash and look like an eyesore. Here are five tips that helped me choose my engagement shoot outfits, as well as some ideas of engagement photos for each season of the year!
Best Colors to Wear for Engagement Photos
Darker colors will always make a girl look slimmer, but don’t settle if light and bright is your style! If you’re set on white or light colors, try to keep them fitted, especially at the waste. This will help give you a natural figure! Also, try to stick to solid colors, but play it up with a ruffled hem or cutout back to keep it interesting and not too one-note.
Add a Little Bit of ‘Spice’
Highlight your look with simple jewelry or accessories. You’re already wearing the most important piece of jewelry for your photo shoot – you’re engagement ring! So keep all other jewelry; I love simple diamond or hoop earrings. Also, don’t forget about your nails!
If jewelry isn’t your thing, try props instead! For vintage themed engagement photos, paint a picture frame with chalkboard paint and write a message on it like “I said yes!” or “Save the Date” followed by your wedding date. If you’re more in to sports and your engagement photoshoot takes place in the cooler months of the year, bring a team blanket to wrap up in. Make this time memorable and include props that mean something to the both of you 🙂
Help Your Partner Out
Help your guy or gal coordinate their outfit, but try not to match! Their outfit should compliment yours – for example, if you’re wearing light pink, have your them try a deep blue, or if you’re wearing sky blue, have your fiancé wear something camel colored. Also, if they’re wearing a pattern, like plaid or stripes, make yours a solid.
